Microsoft’s Office applications have been available for Android tablets for quite some time now but the Microsoft Office apps for Android smartphones was officially unveiled following the release of the preview version which was released five weeks ago ‘to be precise’ to Android smartphone users.
The preview apps allowed users to test and give feedbacks to Microsoft so as to make improvements before the apps left their test phase. Microsoft seems to be putting huge investments into other operating systems in an effort to expand its software offerings to many people out there. Below is a list of features added to the applications:
- Ability to review and edit documents on the go.
- Wirelessly do your presentations with PowerPoint for Android. (Please note that your hardware has to be supported).
- Quick access to documents, with support for 3rd party cloud storage providers e.g Dropbox, Google Drive, Box
The Microsoft Office apps can be downloaded from the Play Store. These apps include Word for Android, Excel for Android and PowerPoint for Android. Microsoft is said to be pre-loading some of these apps on new Android smartphones from major OEMs such as Samsung, Sony, LG and more.
