Ever since the launch of Cortana on Windows Phone, there’s been a debate on whether Microsoft’s digital voice assistant will be moving to other platforms. Well, few months ago, there was a report that Cortana will be making its way to Android and iOS devices but the good news is, Microsoft just confirmed that today.
Today, we’re announcing a Cortana application for Android phones and for iPhones which works as a companion to Cortana on your Windows 10 PC. The ‘Phone Companion’ app on the PC will help you install the Cortana app from the Google Play or Apple App Store onto your phone so you’ll be able to take the intelligence of Cortana with you, wherever you go […]
The Cortana companion will be available for Android phones at the end of June and for iPhones later this year.
The announcement lack details about the exact features the digital assistant will be packing on iOS or Android, but it does mention that Cortana will feature notification support on these platforms. This means that Cortana users on iPhone will automatically get updates about the weather, scores of their favorite teams, reminders and more.
However, Cortana on iOS is not going to be as powerful as it will be on Windows 10 devices due to the lack of integration.
Additionally, Microsoft also announced a Companion app for Windows 10 that will support Windows Phone as well as iOS and Android devices.
