Microsoft is launching Reading Coach, a standalone app designed to enhance its educational tools in Microsoft Teams. This app, part of Microsoft’s Reading Progress suite, uses artificial intelligence to deliver personalized feedback to users on their reading, including specific advice on how to improve pronunciation.

All Microsoft account holders can access it for free.

Over time, the AI tool will identify words that users commonly misread or misunderstand during reading sessions and offer interactive prompts to keep students engaged. The overall design of the app allows it to comfortably integrate into classroom learning platforms from Spring. However, educators can preview the tool from this month.

The Reflect tool contributes additional features by enabling teachers to assess how students feel about assignments. From tracking student progress to generating engaging course content, Microsoft’s Teams for Education suite promises a range of efficient features to support educators.

Apart from its novel Reading Coach, Microsoft has also updated its Teams for Education app with new features aimed at customizing content for digital education platforms. The Classwork tool will use AI to highlight important instructions in an assignment, while the Assignments tool will ease the process of creating rubrics, which teachers can later tailor based on different grading criteria.
