Microsoft has appointed Kendi Ntwiga to the top spot in its Kenyan operations effective January 2020.

Ntwiga, formerly the General Manager of Checkpoint Software Services, has vast experience working in the STEM fields, and has contributed to Microsoft’s diversity and digital transformation journey in Africa.

She will spearhead strategies and allocation of resources in the country.

Microsoft Regional GM for Middle East and Africa, Ibrahim Youssry said, “We are extremely excited to have Kendi join our dynamic team. Her extensive experience will go a long way in contributing to our overall mission of helping the continent on its digital transformation journey, while also driving greater diversity and inclusion across STEM fields.”

Ms Ntwiga held strategic and sales positions in major tech firms such as Oracle and Intel. She spent 5 years at the former.

She founded She-Goes-Tech in 2015 to encourage girls to pursue careers in STEM fields.

On joining Microsoft, Ntwiga said, “I am happy to join Microsoft at a time when digitization is seen as a key driver of progress and transformation in Africa. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more and I have the privilege to be the custodian of that mission in Kenya.”
