Microsoft has announced that Office 365 can now be shared by 5 people on 5 different devices using just one subscription. With this announcement, the company said the cost has become more affordable for families and friends.
Launched in 2013, Office 365s home premium was targeted at families who wish to stay afloat on the latest offices technologies however due to increased abandoning of PCs in favour of mobile devices the company has now extended the subscription to such devices.
According to Office Division Group Lead for Microsoft West, East and Central Africa and Indian Ocean Islands Marc Israel, the development will be beneficial to Africans where many people are accessing the internet and the cloud through mobile devices.
In the past, it has been common for families and friends to share a single desktop computer. We know that today this is a declining trend particularly because of the high growth of mobile device adoption in Africa. But this shouldn’t mean abandoning the advantages and cost-savings of shared technology resources completely, especially with the power of the cloud, which enables sharing across different form factors and geographies,” he says.
Each user will get their own 20GB of OneDrive an extension to more users from the previous one subscriber. This means all users will get a total of 100GB of additional storage in addition to five installs of the latest office suite and 60 free Skype world calling credits.
