Microsoft’s Skype is integrating PayPal into its messaging app to allow users transfer money to their friends while chatting.
In an official post, the Skype team said that sending money is now seamless adding that “For you to send money, you will need to be using the latest version of the Skype mobile app, but the friend or family member who’s receiving the funds can be using any version of Skype. If you, or your friend who’s receiving the funds, don’t already have a PayPal account, you will be prompted to create one the first time you use Send Money.”
The service is currently available in 22 countries around the world, including United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Euro-Currency* countries (Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia). You can send money in US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, British Pounds and Euros. More countries and currencies will be added soon.
Sending Money on Skype (mobile)
- Tap find or swipe to the right in a Skype chat.
- Select “Send Money” from the add-ins.
- Choose the country you live in and where you want to send the money, and tap “Next.”
- Enter the amount of money you want to and tap “Next.”
- Sign into your current PayPal account and link your PayPal account to your Microsoft account.
- Complete your transfer by tapping “Send.”
- Go back to your conversation and a money card will show with the transfer status.
The Fee
The fee for the service is the same as other peer-to-peer payments from PayPal on other platforms. It will be free if you use a debit card or your PayPal balance in the US. If you use a credit card, you will be charged $0.30 plus 3.4 percent of the transaction amount.

This is awesome. Sending money made easy. But why is Nigeria not among the country that should be benefiting from it. Nigeria should be added soon. Thanks admin.

Absolutely brilliant idea! I’m loving this. And I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing it extended to Nigeria. This is the kind of things we want: apps that make life easy.
