In a pioneering move, Meta recently orchestrated an educational in-person initiative in Nigeria known as the Creator Lab Live. This unique event welcomed over 40 young and aspiring creators, providing them with a platform to learn from industry experts and engage in collaborative endeavors with fellow creators.
The Creator Lab Live builds upon the foundation set by the initial Creator Lab edutainment series introduced in March 2022. This foundational program was designed to offer guidance and support to emerging and aspiring creators as they navigate their creative journeys and career paths. Through a series of workshops, participants learned the art of crafting compelling content, cultivating their online communities, and skillfully utilizing the suite of Instagram tools available.
Addressing the participants at the Creator Lab Live, Moon Baz, the Creator Partnerships Lead for Africa, Middle East, and Turkey at Meta, expressed their enthusiasm for launching this pioneering initiative in Nigeria. Instagram’s Creator Lab Live marks a first-of-its-kind endeavor aimed at bolstering emerging creators’ growth within the platform. Baz highlighted Nigeria’s vibrant creator ecosystem, acknowledging its global cultural influence and affirming the company’s commitment to supporting creators in their unique journeys.
Baz stated, “We recognize the incredible content creators generate across our suite of apps and are dedicated to aiding creators in building their communities and making a livelihood across our platforms. As we forge ahead in shaping the future of digital content and experiences, we are eagerly invested in providing creators with a home base to foster community and craft captivating content through diverse formats and creative tools.”
Throughout the program, Rofhiwa Maneta, the Strategic Partner Manager for Creators in Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta, offered valuable insights and tips on enhancing content creation skills. He shared best practices for harnessing Instagram’s tools effectively and highlighted the significance of adhering to community standards for creators’ safety. Moreover, Maneta delved into monetization strategies creators can leverage using Meta technologies.
As an integral part of the event, creators were encouraged to partake in the #PositiveVibesOnlyChallenge, creating content that embodies optimism. This challenge not only served as a medium to spread positivity but also inspired creators to contribute to a better world by generating uplifting content on Instagram.
A fireside chat was also a key feature of the event, delving into the theme of ‘How to stay relevant in the creator space.’ Panelist Amarachi Amusi (ashmusy) emphasized the paramount importance of authenticity, consistency, and creativity on Instagram. Reflecting on the experience, Amusi shared, “The Creator Lab has highlighted the importance of creating unique, short, and entertaining content using various features on Instagram to excite an ever-growing online community.”
Meta’s Creator Lab Live stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to nurturing the dynamic creative community within Nigeria and fostering a thriving ecosystem on Instagram for creators to flourish, connect, and create content that resonates with audiences across the globe.
