Social media giant, Meta, has announced a partnership with the world’s largest CRM platform, Salesforce to enable many more businesses use WhatsApp to connect with their customers seamlessly.
According to Mark Zuckerberg in a recent Facebook post, “We’re partnering with Salesforce so all businesses that use their platform can use WhatsApp business messages to answer customer questions, run marketing campaigns, and sell directly in chat. More and more people prefer to communicate with businesses over text. That’s why we launched our Cloud API earlier this year and are now partnering with Salesforce.”
Matthew Idema, VP of Business Messaging at Meta said that the new integration will help businesses build experiences to chat with customers on WhatsApp, while being able to manage communication directly from the Salesforce platform.
“Messaging is quickly becoming the go-to way for businesses to communicate with their customers. Already, more than one billion users connect with a business account across Meta’s messaging services every week, and this pace is only accelerating. Earlier this year, we opened up the WhatsApp Business Platform to any business across the world to help them get started on WhatsApp in a matter of minutes – deepening customer relationships, driving sales and providing support in an efficient and delightful way” Matthew adds
Both companies are currently running a pilot which includes the L’Oreal group brands which would enable the brands use WhatsApp to reconnect with consumers who had previously left items in a shopping cart and send them coupons and offers, right on the chat thread.
Meta says it will continue to build tools that will help more businesses provide support to their customers, showcase and discuss products, and more.
Launched as a chat messaging service in 2009, WhatsApp is the most popular global mobile messenger app worldwide with over two billion monthly active users.
