MAKIFA Network has launched to support STEM leaders across Northern Nigeria. The platform basically connects ladies and mentors in various fields of STEM in Northern Nigeria.
The platform though not restricted to women aims to improve girls’ activities towards STEM.
Founded by Aisha Amoka, a Computer Science Graduate of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and who currently works with the Federal Ministry of Communications Abuja, Nigeria as a Systems Analyst and girls in STEM advocate in Northern Nigeria, the platform is aimed at bringing STEM to the Northern region of Nigeria which is starved demographically from the advances in Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics.
As part of activities, MAKIFA Network organizes workshops, trainings and awareness from mentors and leaders of various STEM groups and initiatives. It also creates a network that allows for opportunities for leaders and mentors to thrive and grow.
Particularly, the platform creates workshops for young girls in STEM on creativity and knowledge development.
