The latest Postal and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) sector performance report indicated that Zimbabwe’s Internet Access Providers (IAPs) have generated a combined $52.3 million in the last quarter of 2017 as reflected. This recent report represents a 7.6% increase from $48,641,517 recorded in the previous quarter.

Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe however commands the largest market share in Internet access provision with the operator’s market share growing from 53.7% to 54.2% in the last quarter of 2017.

The 0.5% gain in Liquid Telecom’s market share can be credited to the operator’s continuous innovation in delivering next generation products through its recent partnership with Microsoft to deliver cloud based services like Office 365 and Azure.

Liquid Telecom’s partnership with Microsoft gave the operator a distinctive competitive advantage over its rivals, increasing its range of products. As an innovative and forward thinking company, Liquid also partnered the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education for the connection of hubs as well as universities.

The operator has risen to become a key player in rebuilding Zimbabwe’s economy through the provision of a robust fibre optic infrastructure after laying more than 19,000km of fibre across the country. Liquid Telecom’s fierce bandwidth capacity has made the operator the most reliable international traffic carrier for Zimbabwe with its gateways being the main exit routes for domestic traffic.

As shown above, Liquid Telecom commands the highest IAP market share in Zimbabwe with its revenues flowing on a constant trajectory in previous years. IAP revenues are expected to continue increasing on the back of growing Internet and data consumption.

Liquid Telecom is the leading independent data, voice and IP provider in eastern, central and southern Africa. It supplies fibre optic, satellite and international carrier services to Africa’s largest mobile network operators, ISPs and businesses of all sizes. It also provides payment solutions to financial institutions and retailers, as well as award-winning data storage and communication solutions to businesses across Africa and beyond.
