Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a pan-African technology leader, and Eutelsat Group, a global satellite operator, announced a strategic distribution partnership today to expand low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite services. This collaboration will bring enterprise-grade LEO satellite services to a broader range of businesses and communities across the continent.

This partnership is a significant development in the rapidly evolving African telecommunications landscape, where satellite technology plays a vital role in bridging the digital divide. Leveraging Eutelsat’s OneWeb LEO satellite network, Liquid Dataport, a subsidiary of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, will now offer enhanced low-latency satellite services seamlessly integrated with its existing terrestrial network infrastructure.

LEO satellites, positioned closer to Earth than traditional geostationary satellites, offer numerous advantages for telecommunications. These include reduced latency, faster data transfer speeds, and increased bandwidth capacity. This translates to a superior user experience for Liquid Dataport’s customers, enabling smoother cloud computing, high-quality video conferencing, and seamless real-time applications across various industries.

The integration of OneWeb LEO satellites represents a pivotal moment in the evolution of satellite technology in Africa. Historically hampered by limited reach and high latency, satellite connectivity in the region is now poised for a significant upgrade.

“This partnership with Eutelsat marks a significant milestone in our commitment to bridging the digital divide in Africa,” said Ahmed El Beheiry, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies. “By leveraging cutting-edge LEO technology, we are empowering businesses and communities with unparalleled connectivity solutions, fostering innovation and economic growth.”

Philippe Baudrier, VP of Connectivity for Africa at Eutelsat, added, “We are excited to collaborate with Liquid Intelligent Technologies to bring the transformative power of LEO satellite services to more African markets. This partnership represents a shared vision for a more connected and prosperous Africa.”

Liquid Dataport’s LEO service portfolio will encompass a range of solutions, including enterprise access with internet breakout and point-to-point services, tailored to meet the diverse needs of businesses across various sectors. As Eutelsat’s OneWeb constellation expands its coverage, Liquid Dataport plans to systematically extend its service offerings, ensuring reliable and high-speed connectivity even in the most remote corners of the continent.

This partnership is well-timed, aligning with the anticipated surge in LEO satellite constellations in the coming years. Both Liquid Intelligent Technologies and Eutelsat Group are strategically positioned to capitalize on this growth, driving further innovation and expanding their footprint in the African market.

This strategic alliance comes amid increased competition in the African satellite communications sector. Other players, such as SEACOM and Avanti Communications, have also recently announced similar LEO partnerships. This underscores the growing recognition of satellite technology as a crucial tool for achieving universal connectivity across Africa.

The Liquid Intelligent Technologies and Eutelsat Group partnership signals a new era of connectivity in Africa. By harnessing the power of LEO satellites, it promises to accelerate digital transformation, empower businesses, and uplift communities across the continent.
