LinkedIn is rolling out new verification options to verify your identity and where you work. These verification features are free unlike the likes of Twitter and Meta.

The Microsoft-owned company has partnered with CLEAR, a secure identity platform, to provide verification for our LinkedIn members in the US. According to the company in a blog post, as from April 2023, you can display on your profile that you verified your identity with CLEAR. All you need is a U.S. government-issued ID and U.S. phone number.

LinkedIn says it may expand ID verification globally and add more verification partners in the future. To learn more about how this verification works and the steps to verify, check out ID verification on your profile

After confirming your identity, a new section called “Verifications” will appear on your profile, located beneath the “Connect” and “Message” buttons. When other users visit your profile, they will notice a checkmark displayed next to a “Government ID” banner, indicating that your government ID has been verified.

Linked has also provided two ways of verifying where your work:

    1. With your company email: You can verify where you work using your company-issued email address and this option is available to 50 million members globally on LinkedIn. Once you state your work email, LinkedIn will send a code to the email address. To learn more about how this verification works and the steps to verify, check out Work email verification on your profile. This feature works with more than 4,000 companies on the platform. and LinkedIn plans to roll out this option to more companies over time.
    2. With Microsoft Entra: LinkedIn is partnering with Microsoft to allow organizations to leverage the Microsoft Entra Verified ID platform to issue digital workplace IDs for free, enabling workers to display the verification on their LinkedIn profile. The company says that this feature will start rolling out at the end of April and it plans to make this available to dozens of participating companies reaching more than two million LinkedIn members. LinkedIn will continue to expand availability as more companies participate in Entra.

LInkedIn says that though all LinkedIn members globally won’t have access to these verification options immediately, it will expand availability soon.
