Lifebank, a healthcare technology and logistics company based in Nigeria, has launched a 100 Million Naira fund named BOAT. Blood and Oxygen Access Trust (BOAT) was created to democratize access to blood and oxygen by providing these essential medical products to poor and vulnerable Nigerians at no cost.
“LifeBank believes that no Nigerian should die from a lack of essential medical products at the hospital level, and we are working to make this a reality,” said Temie, LifeBank’s CEO and Founder. “We also strongly believe that economic circumstances should not be a barrier to healthcare access. Therefore, we are mobilizing our community — doctors, health workers, funding partners — to join us in democratizing access to blood and oxygen by supporting BOAT.”
“LifeBank will work with doctors to identify low income patients who can benefit from BOAT, and we invite doctors who work this patient demographic to register on the BOAT platform. Companies, religious congregations, and other organizations can support BOAT by donating to BOAT. They can also extend their commitment by hosting Pop Up Blood Drives in addition to their BOAT donation. Voluntary blood donation makes blood available, and BOAT contributions cover the costs associated with making blood safe for use, providing it and oxygen to low income Nigerians free of charge.” says Temie Giwa-Tubosun
Since its founding in 2016, LifeBank has discovered and delivered over 13,000 pints of blood to over 350 hospitals, saving over 3,300 lives. Its mission is to save as many lives as quickly as we can, and that can only be achieved if everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, has access to the essential medical products needed to keep them alive.
