    LifeBank founder, Temie Giwa-Tubosun is 2020 Sub-Saharan Africa recipient of Cartier’s Women’s Initiative

    Temie Giwa-Tubosun, CEO and founder of LifeBank Nigeria, has been selected as the 2020 Sub-Saharan Africa recipient of Cartier’s Women’s Initiative. She is one of the seven regional winners selected from over 1,200 applications from 162 countries. The announcement was made online on Monday by the President and CEO of Cartier International, Cyrille Vigneron.

    LifeBank is a medical distribution company that uses data and technology to discover and deliver essential medical products to hospitals in Nigeria.

    With this award, Temie gets $100,000 grant as the laureate from the Sub-Saharan region to scale her business.

    The Cartier’s Women Initiative awards over $1 million each year to
    women impact entrepreneurs globally.
    • US$ 100,000 grant for each of the 7 laureates (top business from each
    region)
    • US$ 30,000 grant for each of the 14 remaining finalists (2nd and 3rd
    runner-up businesses from each region)

    The Cartier Women’s Initiative is an annual international entrepreneurship program created by Cartier in 2006 that aims to drive change by empowering women impact entrepreneurs. 

    Every year, the programme recognizes 21 talented women impact entrepreneurs who are leveraging business as a force for good. These women hail from seven regions across the globe: Latin America & the Caribbean, North America, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East & North Africa, East Asia, and South Asia & Oceania

    Here are the 7 winners of the 2020 edition and their businesses:

    LATIN AMERICA & THE CARIBBEAN: Adriana Luna Diaz, Mexico
    Tierra de Monte
    Creates agricultural products that renew biodiversity and soil fertility, fortify and protect crops, and empowers the farmers who use them.

    NORTH AMERICA: Stephanie Benedetto, USA
    Queen of Raw
    A marketplace to buy and sell unused textiles, keeping them out of landfills, and turning pollution into profit.

    EUROPE: Anna-Sophie Hartvigsen, Denmark
    Female Invest
    Promotes financial gender equality by educating women on investing and personal finances.

    SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA: Temie Giwa-Tubosun, Nigeria
    LifeBank

    MIDDLE EAST & NORTH AFRICA: Nadia Gamal El Din, Egypt
    Rahet Bally
    An all-inclusive platform to support Egyptian mothers financially, physically, emotionally, and intellectually, both online and in person.

    EAST ASIA: Chunguang (Charlotte) Wang, China
    Equota Energy (Technology) Shanghai Co Ltd
    An energy optimization company that combines artificial intelligence and big data to deliver energy efficiency solutions.

    SOUTH ASIA & OCEANIA: Joanne Howarth, Australia
    Woolpack Australia – Planet Protector Packaging
    Manufactures environmentally responsible insulated packaging made from sheep wool waste for transport of temperature-sensitive goods.

    Last year, Temie Giwa-Tubosun won the 1st prize of $250,000 in Jack Ma’s Africa Netpreneur Prize.
