LG has revealed its first gaming laptop with Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Max-Q GPU and Intel’s 11-generation Core processors. This is before CES 2022 Teaser, which is on January 4th.
In recent years, the margins on regular PCs have been getting smaller and smaller. Laptop makers have turned to making gaming computers. For a long time, LG hasn’t been involved in the gaming PC market. However, this has changed, with the company’s announced return into the market and with a good overall menu of alternatives.
There have been a lot of chip supply problems in recent years, which has made it hard to buy GPUs at normal prices, especially since cryptocurrency miners have been buying up all the GPUs that are left. As a result of severe raising prices and pirating, enthusiasts have been unable to purchase their favourite graphics cards for gaming or building their own PCs. A recent report from NVIDIA, on the other hand, says that it expects supplies to improve in the middle of next year.
Gram notebooks from LG are known for being very light. The company also makes high-end UltraGear products for gaming monitors and other high-end devices, which are sold under the UltraGear name. They’ve just released a new UltraGear-branded laptop with some remarkable features.
An IPS screen with a 300Hz refresh rate and a response time of 1ms can be found on the LG UltraGear 17G90Q. It has a 17.3-inch 1080p (16:9) display. If you buy this laptop, you’ll get Intel 11th-generation Core processors (Tiger Lake H) and a graphics card from NVIDIA called GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q. Other specifications include up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB of M.2 SSD storage capacity.
Aluminium is used to make the 17G90Q. It has two USB Type-C ports (one of which is called USB 4) and two USB Type-A ports. There is also an HDMI port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and RJ45 port on the back. RGB illuminated keyboard, battery, and stylised LG logo on the touchpad are included in the device’s standard package. A fingerprint scanner is located under the power button, and the laptop is equipped with quad speakers and a webcam with a resolution of 1080p. At just 21.4 millimetres thick, this new laptop is the thinnest on the market and weighs less than 2 kilos.
It will first be available in the US and South Korea in early 2022, before going on sale in other parts of the world. As of now, LG hasn’t released pricing information, but the company plans to do it at CES 2022 on January 4.
When it launches next year, LG’s first gaming PC will be up against a number of other similar products from Razer, Alienware, and other gaming PC manufacturers. It will be interesting to see how the gadget compares against those other devices.
