Leta expands to Ghana following $5M seed round

Leta, a fast-growing Kenyan startup specializing in logistics software, has officially launched operations in Ghana, marking its seventh market expansion across Africa. This milestone follows a successful $5 million seed funding round in March 2025, underscoring the company’s ambition to become a leading logistics technology provider on the continent.

Founded in 2021 by entrepreneur Nick Joshi, Leta develops advanced software solutions designed to streamline supply chain and logistics operations for businesses. Its platform leverages artificial intelligence to automate fleet management, optimize delivery routes, and significantly reduce transportation costs—key challenges for companies operating in Africa’s complex logistics landscape.

The company is now live in Accra, Ghana’s capital, with its first local client: Simbisa Brands Limited, one of Africa’s largest quick-service restaurant groups. Simbisa operates over 600 outlets across 11 countries, making it a strategic partner for Leta’s entry into the Ghanaian market. Joshi shared the news on LinkedIn, stating, “We are officially live in Accra with our first customer on the ground.”

Leta’s expansion into Ghana builds on its existing presence in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Mauritius, reinforcing its pan-African growth strategy. The startup is positioning itself as a critical enabler for businesses seeking to improve delivery efficiency in regions where infrastructure and logistics remain challenging.

The company has raised over $8 million to date, with its most recent round led by Speedinvest, and participation from Google’s Africa Investment Fund and Equator. The new capital is being used to enhance Leta’s AI-powered platform and scale its operations across the continent.

“Our investors’ backing validates our vision and progress,” Joshi said in March. “With this capital, we’re looking to refine our product to empower more businesses with a cost-effective, data-driven supply chain.”

Since its pre-seed round in 2022, Leta has reported impressive growth metrics:

    • 5x increase in revenue
    • 4.5 million deliveries completed
    • 150,000 tonnes of goods moved
    • Over 7,400 vehicles managed

The company’s client portfolio includes major regional and international brands such as KFC, East African Breweries Limited (EABL), Wells Fargo Courier, and Gilani’s, all of whom rely on Leta’s platform to cut logistics costs and improve operational efficiency.

As African businesses increasingly seek smarter, tech-driven logistics solutions, Leta is betting that software—not just more trucks—will be the key to unlocking scalable, sustainable delivery systems across the continent.
