Learn how to schedule your posts in advance using the Instagram app

Instagram’s professional profiles allow users to schedule content up to 75 days in advance. In the past, the Meta-owned platform didn’t allow users to plan ahead and schedule their posts.

Content creators, instead resorted to using desktop solutions like Meta Business Suite or third-party applications. Instagram posts can now be scheduled using only the native mobile app on your iOS or Android device.

The one and only caveat is that you are required to have a professional account. You probably have a professional account if you use the platform for business. If not, it’s simple and cost-free to switch to a professional account.

How to switch to a professional account

    1. Open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device. Navigate to your account by tapping on the icon in the bottom-right corner of the app.
    2. Tap on the three lines in the top-right corner to access more options.
    3. Select Settings. Now, navigate to the Account section.
    4. Scroll down all the way to the bottom. Select ‘Switch to professional account’.
    5. Flip through all the pages and tap on Continue.
    6. Choose a category that describes your profile. Select Done.
    7. Select whether you want a Creator account or a Business one. The schedule feature is available on both types of accounts.
    8. You can either continue to set up your profile with further details or tap on the ‘X’ button in the top-right corner to exit the process.

Congratulations, you have just upgraded to a business profile on Instagram.

A quick note: if you no longer wish to use your Instagram business account, you can do so at any time.

How to schedule Instagram posts (reel videos and photos) using the app

If you want to schedule a post in Instagram’s post composer, go to the app’s settings and then tap Advanced, then select Schedule this post. To set the content’s publishing time and date, select the appropriate options and then tap Schedule. Your content is now ready to be published.

Benefits of Scheduling your posts on Instagram

Perhaps you’re curious about how to maximise the usefulness of this feature. By automating Instagram posts, you can save time and effort while still maintaining a consistent posting schedule.

In the world of content creation, consistency in posting frequency is crucial. Schedule your Instagram posts in advance from your phone, whether they are photos or videos, to give your followers what they want when they want it.

By planning ahead, you can increase your Instagram posts’ frequency and visibility during high-traffic hours.
