The efforts of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to make Lagos a mega city seems to be paying off as the Rockefeller Foundation has listed Lagos among the top 100 resilient cities in the world.
The Governor who recently received the certificate of admission into the group from the President of Rockefeller Foundation, Mr. Michael Berkowitz said: “You may want to ask how we have coped in the face of these challenges. The answer is simple; innovation, determination, and resilience.
“Being a part of the network of 100RC comes at a good time when our state is hoping to join the leading city-states of the world. We are open to new ideas, new technology, and new methods.” He concluded.
The question you may ask is what is a Resilient City? A Resilient City is one that has developed capacities to help absorb future shocks and stresses to its social, economic, and technical systems and infrastructures so as to still be able to maintain essentially the same functions, structures, systems, and identity.”
