Google’s YouTube is launching a new music awards celebration, created by YouTube and Spike Jonze.
The awards will be built around the viewers and fans who will decide who wins when the nominees are announced on October 17. The nominees will be the artists and videos watched, shared, and loved the most over the past year.
Presented by Kia, the YouTube Music Awards will feature performances by Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Arcade Fire who will join other top artists and some of YouTube’s biggest stars including Lindsey Stirling and CDZA in performances and musical collaborations from Seoul, Moscow, London and Rio, culminating in a new type of awards show in New York, where favorite artists create new music videos in real time, live on YouTube, on Sunday, November 3.
In the days leading up to the November 3 event, nominees will share official music videos, covers, parodies, concerts, interviews and fan videos on YouTube – so you can stay in the loop, find your faves and discover new music you didn’t even know you loved!
Get ready to start voting on October 17, then tune in on November 3 to watch the first-ever YouTube Music Awards.
Music-video visionary Spike Jonze will be the creative director and acclaimed actor Jason Schwartzman will host with VICE and Sunset Lane Entertainment acting as executive producers.
I wonder how many awards PSY’s Gangnam Style will win. Who else do you think will win?
