Recognising the diversity of its audience, Kwesé TV has recently added the contemporary music and lifestyle channel Hip TV to its African television platform. Hip TV is a Nigerian basic cable television channel owned by Ayo Animashaun. The channel is the sole channel with broadcasting rights to The Headies. Headquartered in Ikeja, Lagos State, Hip TV’s features are centred majorly on entertainment ranging from latest music videos, entertainment news and lifestyle.
Hip TV was launched in July 2007 by Ayo Animashaun as a broadcast platform for Hip Hop World Magazine but has since risen to become a music and entertainment channel. On November 5, 2013, Hip TV was launched on Multichoice’s DSTV as a 24-hour channel with a target audience from over 40 countries in Africa.
This channel is generally aimed at a young audience, provides entertainment news, interviews and red carpet coverage. Henceforth, Hip TV joins a range of music programming on Kwesé TV, including Sean Combs’ REVOLT TV, BOX Television, Trace Africa, Trace Gospel and Trace Mziki.
Hip TV is currently available on channel 610, the channel is known and respected for entertainment news, incisive and exclusive interviews, and red carpet moments amongst others.
Kwesé TV launched with a full-suite of top-shelf content which is unprecedented for a new broadcaster. Having already showcased its impressive portfolio of sports assets on its premium sports channels Kwesé Free Sports, Kwesé Sports 1 and Kwesé Sports 2, Kwesé TV introduces some fantastic entertainment programming to the mix including some exclusive, first-to-market content as well as original programming.
In addition to great content and its multi-platform, multi-screen broadcasting model, Kwesé’s key differentiator is its innovative payment options that offer flexibility and convenience. Kwesé offers a ‘pay-as-you-watch’ service that enables viewers to purchase three or seven-day passes to its full programming bouquet so they never have to miss out on trending sports or entertainment programming. These payment options, which turn the traditional pay TV model on its head, provides unparalleled access to premium programming at an affordable price.

Kwesé TV is afrocentric and youthful so we are happy to have Hip TV, a home-grown channel for a youthful audience on our platform. Whether you are in the mood for the distinctly Naija beat, hip hop, R&B or gospel from around the world, you will find them all on Kwesé TV.
Kwesé TV offers over 70 channels including sports, movies, current affairs, news, and children’s programming.
