Nigeria’s online e-commerce site, Konga.com, will be shutting down its desktop site for 5 days…..for a mobile app-only mega sale.
Interesting concept.? What this means is that this sale will only be accessible to those customers with smartphones and that have downloaded the mobile app. Considering that most Nigerians still have feature phones and not many people like downloading apps, this might be a risky venture.
Yes, Techcabal reports that FlipKart tried the same experiment earlier this year. But FlipKart said that they had more sales from their app before considering this move. I wonder whether Nigeria is ripe for this experiment.
Or is it that Konga.com wants to do some maintenance work on its site and is trying to compensate for this with a mega sale during this period?
