South African investment firm Kogae Rainbow Investment Holdings has acquired a 65% equity stake in Boomgate, a prominent local manufacturer specializing in high-security access control systems. The acquisition encompasses both Boomgate Systems and Boomgate International, marking a significant strategic move aimed at scaling the company’s operations and expanding its reach across global markets.
Thabile Wonci, CEO of Kogae Rainbow, emphasized the transformative potential of the deal:
“This strategic investment is poised to accelerate Boomgate’s growth, expand its international footprint and solidify its position as a market leader in high-security access solutions. While Boomgate has been exporting its products for years, this partnership is designed to provide the resources and expertise needed for a more robust global expansion, particularly across the African continent.”
Boomgate, founded and led by Andre Rossouw, will continue to benefit from his leadership as he remains in his role as Managing Director. His continued involvement ensures continuity in the company’s vision and operations.
Known for its custom-engineered security solutions, Boomgate has built a reputation for designing and manufacturing tailored systems rather than relying on generic, off-the-shelf products. This bespoke approach has enabled the company to secure contracts for high-risk and sensitive sites, including banks, correctional facilities, presidential residences, and data centers.
The acquisition signals a new chapter for Boomgate, combining its technical expertise with Kogae Rainbow’s strategic capital and business development capabilities to unlock new opportunities across Africa and beyond.
