Championing Africa’s mobility revolution. Kenyan-based electric vehicle (EV) mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) startup Mazi Mobility is transforming the transport sector in Africa by charting the future of electric vehicles in the continent. The startup has officially launched its electric motorcycle service as a clean, affordable, and efficient form of public transport for local commuters.
Jesse Forrester, Co-Founder, and CEO at Mazi Mobility explains that the tech startup is committed to a sustainable future and that by implementing its new fleet of electric motorcycles reaffirms its commitment to the environment.
“Mazi is not just an EV company, we are advocates for a sustainable mass mobility change. At Mazi, we believe that Africans should be able to move efficiently, and affordably across cities at less than the price of personal vehicle ownership while reducing CO2 emissions. What industry is better to see this change than the boda one? Mazi is taking a long approach to mobility, we don’t want to just have the same status quo but with electric vehicles. At Mazi we move people, data, and things. Twende Kazi na Mazi!”
Mazi Mobility
Founded in 2019, Mazi Mobility is a tech startup that aims to place Greentech on the forefront of the tech industry by implementing much-needed services and products that are both tech-driven and eco-friendly. Titled Magnus 3000, these unique and electric bodas are an eco-friendly alternative to the current petrol-driven bodas in Kenya.
In addition, the tech startup is implementing battery swapping stations that provide on-demand energy sources. According to Mazi Mobility, the use of electric motorcycles as a form of public transport aims to reduce transportation costs by 50%.
The MK3 reportedly offers a choice between a single and dual battery. This battery is capable of traveling up to 70km and 140km in range. Mazi Mobility claims to be currently working with boda operators, technical institutions, and manufacturers in its multi-stakeholder approach to drive the e-mobility sector in the country.
