Catholic University of East Africa, Nairobi will be hosting the CMS Africa Summit 2015 on the 13th – 14th March. The summit is organised by CMS Africa, an organisation that seeks to support Open Source CMSes in Africa through engaging students, graduates and start up that deal open source CMS.Event sponsors include Drupal, Jeetpack, Woo Themes and Akeeba. Nairobi city is currently ranked among the worlds top 21 ‘intelligent communities’by CNN.com, it is not suprisinig that this year’s Summit is being held here.
The idea behind Open Source is developing applications and making code available to anyone to use, copy, edit or redistribute in any way they’d like. Open Source Content Management Systems like WordPress, Joomla are popular among start ups in Africa because they are affordable. Website owners and administrators don’t have to worry about paying licence fees like is the case with Propiety Content Management Systems.
The open source tech event is expected to bring together top ranking web developers, online marketers, software engineers, online retailers, web administrators, online banking admins, company owners, Open source enthusiasts and tech students.
