    Kenya Leads Africa In Fastest Mobile Internet Speed

    Kenya has been declared the country with the fastest mobile internet speed in Africa according to the first quarter, 2017 State of the Internet Report by Akamai, that collated, sampled and analysed data from more than 108 countries.

    Kenya according to the report has the 14th-fastest mobile internet speed with an average of 13.7 Megabits per second.

    Interestingly, the East African country is ahead of the United States that is ranked 28th with an average speed of 10.7 Mbps.Meanwhile in Africa a

    Meanwhile, other African countries featured in the research include South Africa, Morrocco, Nigeria, Namibia, and Egypt with an average of 6.7, 5.2, 3.9, 2.9 and 2 respectively. Kenya is far ahead in Africa with an average of 12.2 Mbps.

    Almost 88% of Kenya’s population have access to the internet via their phones which may be the reason for their fantastic performance in the research.
