Jumia Makes Entry Into Online Grocery Delivery As It Partners With Supermart.ng

Jumia is cementing its dominance in Nigeria’s eCommerce space as it has made its entry into online grocery delivery by partnering with Supermart.ng. You already know that you can purchase fashion and electronics, book hotels, and order food among others in the Jumia ecosystem.

The partnership is powered by Supermart.ng, which is already an established grocery platform in Nigeria. As such, Jumia does not have any grocery inventory as it seems both eCommerce startups have integrated their systems to make purchase seamless.

Furthermore, the partnership may not come as a surprise to some as the founders of Supermart.ng, Raphael Afaedor and Gbolahon Fagbure were former Jumia employees.

It is not out of place to add that that Konga launched its own grocery delivery service with Konga Daily in April.

Like Supermart.ng, Jumia will only deliver in Lagos.

We do not know how this partnership will impact Supermart.ng in the long term. However, it is definitely good news that eCommerce startups are partnering to improve or boost capacity, engagement and reach.
