JUMIA Ivory Coast kicks off World Cup 2014 with Canal+ partnership and dedicated store

Less than a year after its launch in Ivory Coast, JUMIA, Africa’s largest online retail destination, is getting into the spirit of the World Cup, securing a partnership with Canal+ that will bring exciting discounts and offers to its users throughout the World Cup, as well as creating a dedicated World Cup store on its site.

Canal+, France’s largest premium pay television channel, and JUMIA Ivory Coast have fostered a successful partnership to bring their users exclusive discounts and offers; for every subscription to Canal+ on JUMIA Ivory Coast, users will receive either a free decoder, satellite dish or free installation, as well as a month’s free subscription, and further partnership campaigns are planned for the coming weeks and months.

Meanwhile, JUMIA has created a ‘World Cup store’ on its site to encourage the Ivorian supporters to get behind their team and prepare for the exciting weeks ahead – from football kits to BBQs to widescreen TVs fit to capture all the action over the next 4 weeks.

JUMIA is also challenging football fans to correctly guess how successful the Ivory Coast national team will be in this year’s campaign. For every TV bought online at JUMIA Ivory Coast between now and the 11th June, fans will be reimbursed depending on how well the Elephants perform: 100% if they win the final, 50% for a semi-final victory and 25% if they pass the quarter-final stage.

Fatoumata Ba, Managing Director of JUMIA Ivory Coast commented: “This latest partnership with Canal+ is indicative of our dedication to bringing the most popular brands and products to users in Ivory Coast, and our World Cup store stocks everything needed for family and friends to enjoy the tournament. We also hope that we will be able to give all our users free TVs if Ivory Coast become world champions!
The whole country, and especially the team here at JUMIA, is so excited for the World Cup, which is such a huge global event that only comes round once every 4 years. Ivory Coast is very patriotic and passionate about its footballing achievements, so naturally we wanted to get involved and offer our customers exclusive offers during this period, which we will continue to reveal throughout the tournament.”

Recently, JUMIA also partnered with the Night of African Football to honour some of the greatest African football legends such as Yaya Touré, Antoine Bell and Roger Milla and support the sporting efforts of the nation in the lead up to the World Cup.
