The Managing Director of Jumia Nigeria, Jonathan Doerr (PhD) has revealed that shoppers who use the Jumia official app use 5 times less data than those who use the ecommerce platform’s web portal.

Speaking to Innovation Village in Lagos on the sidelines of the official launch of Infinix Zero2, Doerr said with apps, online shoppers spend less on data and enjoy better connection to Jumia.

Investigations by Innovation Village revealed Jumia’s app has been downloaded by more than 1 million users on Google Play Store with a 4.1 out of 5 average rating, in comparison to it’s competitor Konga whose Android app has been downloaded by 100 000 users and has a 4.0 average rating.

He said there will soon be an app revolution in Nigeria and more citizens need to be educated on the importance and benefits of using apps instead of web browsers.
