    Jumia and Ministry of Crafts Partner to Support Moroccan Artisans

    Jumia, the leading e-commerce platform in Morocco, has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport, and Social Economy in order to support the artisans of the kingdom through the marketing and online sale of handicrafts.

    This partnership is a strategic opportunity to promote the sector (artisans, cooperatives, companies) in the digital sector and in an exceptional context of COVID-19.

    Realized through the Maison de l’Artisan, this first partnership with Jumia consists of the establishment of a platform that will allow craftsmen, both rural and urban, to have access to millions of online consumers.

    The products of these craftsmen will be accessible via the application and the website of Jumia Maroc which will also make available its logistics platform and its distribution network throughout the national territory, as well as its payment platform, to allow consumers several payment methods and after-sales service.

    The solution will benefit artisans in sixteen cities in the kingdom in which Jumia has physical branches.

    Larbi Alaoui Belrhiti, General Manager of Jumia in Morocco, declared: “Jumia is proud to be at the forefront in providing digital solutions to Moroccan artisans so that they maintain and develop their activities, especially during this related context. to COVID-19.

    “We are already working with more than 10,000 sellers in Morocco and we are happy today to support this essential sector which makes it possible to protect and promote our unique cultural heritage and also to support thousands of people. We are convinced that with our expertise and our digital and distribution platforms, artisans will benefit from growth in their activities ”

    This partnership will establish the basis for fair trade for artisans, but also for vulnerable people (women, young people, people with disabilities), through direct contact with potential buyers throughout the Kingdom. via the Jumia platform.

    To promote the digitization of their activities, Jumia also undertakes to reduce the rate of its sales commissions for all artisanal products. The platform will also provide training for artisans to help them set up their online stores on Jumia, operate their sales, and thus increase their turnover.
