Online job and education portal Jobartis has emerged the best startup in Angola by winning the country’s leg of Seedstars World. With its victory, Jobartis will represent Angola in Switzerland in February 2016 for the final pitching round, potentially winning the 500’000 USD equity prize.
Jobartis was part of the 11 startups that pitched in front of a prestigious jury including Clausir Ramos – Member of the content and mobile apps solutions department at Unitel.
Ramos said “It was a big challenge because entrepreneurship is a new thing in the Angolan market. This will give the opportunity to Angolan startups to compete on a global stage and learn from entrepreneurs from all over the world”.
Seedstars World, is a global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes. . Luis Verdeja, co-founder and CEO of Jobartis, was thankful for the recognition of their hard work and journey so far. Jobartis beat Bitfyr, a product that reinvents the way users interact before and within events came second and ProxyPay, a hosted integration platform that makes the card based payment methods accessible to SMBs grabbed the last spot in the top 3. Lastly, SOBA, a combination of Fashion business with a strong social responsibility component.

- Makelabor – A network allowing entrepreneurs and enterprise to find people who want collaborate to develop their idea or project and investors.
- Interactive Load – Creating games based on African culture as well as an advertising platform focused on helping small companies and individuals to sell.
- Manifesto – Providing the Angolan population with an easy and quick way of accessing the news they are most interested in.

- LNL (Luanda Night Life) – LNL is a restaurant review platform that informs, influences and updates readers on Luanda’s restaurants, bars, and hotels.
Seedstars Luanda was supported by Unitel, who acted as the main partner for the event and will provide follow-on support to the participating entrepreneurs. The local Ambassador of Seedstars World, Vanda de Oliveira of KiandaHub, organized the event with local partners such as Menos Fios, Red Bull, Radio Nacional de Angola and JCAC Communications.
Continuing on its world tour of startup scenes in emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, Seedstars World’s next stop is at Buni Hub in Dar Es Salaam, to select the best startup in Tanzania. Seedstars World is looking for smart startups that solve regional issues and/or develop profitable products for the global market.
