Co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has finally commented about the recent layoffs at Twitter. Elon Musk, the new owner fired about 50% of the staff of the social media company after taking over the company.
He tweeted, “Folks at Twitter past and present are strong and resilient. They will always find a way no matter how difficult the moment. I realize many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that.”
He added that he was grateful for, and love, everyone who has ever worked on Twitter. “I don’t expect that to be mutual in this moment…or ever…and I understand.”
Jack Dorsey stepped down from the CEO role in November 2021 and was replaced by chief technology officer (CTO) Parag Agrawal.
Way back in April when Twitter agreed to Elon Musk’s bid to take over the company, he said, “Elon is the singular solution I trust… I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness.”
Elon Musk said the reduction in workforce was necessary saying that the company was losing over $4 million each day.
Jack is working on another social media platform, Bluesky Social which is now accepting users for beta testing, and is set to launch “soon”.
