Iran has become the first country to officially ban Pokémon Go. According to a BBC report, the decision to ban the Niantic app was taken by the High Council of Virtual Spaces, the official body overseeing online activity.
The reason given was because of “security concerns” even though the concerns were unspecified.
Though many countries have been expressing concerns over security related to the game, Iran is the first country to officially issue the ban.
Indonesia has banned police officers from playing the game while on duty, and a French player was arrested last month after straying on to a military base while trying to catch Pokemon.
Engadget reported last week that the game has hit 100 million downloads and was earning $10 million a day.
