Latitude59, the premier Estonian event for startups and technology, is actively seeking participation from early-stage startups throughout Africa to vie for a substantial prize pool consisting of non-equity financial support. The event celebrated its 12th iteration in the Estonian capital of Tallinn during the month of May, drawing an impressive crowd of over 3,500 participants. This diverse gathering included in excess of 900 startup enthusiasts and close to 600 investors.
In a bid to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, Latitude59 is extending an invitation to African startups to partake in their upcoming pitch competition. This contest is slated to be a highlight of the forthcoming edition of Latitude59. As a precursor to the main event, selected startups will have the opportunity to showcase their business ideas at a special Latitude59 conference scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, on November 28.
The winner of this preliminary round will secure a coveted spot to pitch at the main Latitude59 event. For the past two consecutive years, the Latitude59 pitch competition has boasted a generous prize fund of EUR1 million (equivalent to approximately US$1.1 million).
Liisi Org, the Chief Executive Officer of Latitude59, expressed enthusiasm about the talent emerging from the African continent, particularly noting the impressive performance of African startups in the previous year’s competition. These startups have demonstrated their prowess in critical sectors such as green technology, financial technology, and clean technology. Encouraged by these results, Latitude59 is returning to Kenya for the second consecutive year, inviting founders from all over Africa to apply and compete in the Latitude59 pitch competition in Kenya.
Applications are open here until November 1.
