The founder of 9jaBookings.com, Mr. Balogun Danjuma, has told Innovation Village that in addition to providing funds, startups in Nigeria need investors to provide mentorship and support.

“Most of the investors have succeeded in one or more businesses. When they invest in a company, they are bringing more than money on board because they usually throw their full weight behind their investment to ensure they get results and make returns,” he said.

9jaBookings.com allows Nigerians to book celebrities has Akin Alabi, CEO of NairaBet.com as major investor. Danjuma said since Alabi came on board, he has been able to enjoy “flowing funds and mentorship”.

“Through the marriage, I have been able to understand that customers are not paying for ideas, they buy products. He has taught us how to do real business. He understands what would work and what would not,” Danjuma told Innovation Village.
