Huawei launched the Huawei Mate 30 series at an event in Munich today. It also launched the Huawei Watch GT 2. One of the key features of the Watch GT 2 is that the watch can last 2 weeks on one single charge based on Huawei’s self-developed wearable chip Kirin A1, the dual-chip design and intelligent power saving technology.
The Watch GT 2 has an always-on mode like the Apple Watch Series 5 launched a couple of days ago.
It is the successor to the Huawei Watch GT. It weighs 29g and comes in two sizes – 42mm and 46mm – with a re-designed 3D glass screen, with a 9.4mm thickness. The 42 mm series measures 41.8 x 41.8 x 9.4 mm while the 46mm series measures 45.9 x 45.9 x 10.7 mm
Compared to the Watch GT, the GT 2 has improved health features in the shape of sleep tracking and heart rate monitoring.
Huawei can store up to 500 songs on the watch’s 2GB of storage and thanks to the Bluetooth calling feature, you can make or receive calls even when your hands are occupied.
The Watch GT 2 has the following sensors:
- Accelerometer sensor
- Gyroscope sensor
- Geomagnetic sensor
- Optical heart rate sensor
- Ambient light sensor
- Air pressure sensor
- Capacitive sensor
The Watch GT 2 will cost €249 (roughly $275 / £220) for the 46mm model and €229 (around $250 / £200) for 42mm, and will be available from October 2019.
