Introducing DropBuddies, a peer-to-peer package delivery service

DropBuddies is the result of a combination of technology and logistics. It is a peer-to-peer package delivery service that uses Global Positioning System (GPS) to alert couriers (DropBuddies) closest to where one has indicated as pickup point via push notification on their mobile device.

The DropBuddies platform connects people who need packages delivered to people headed towards the destination of the package. The distinctive feature is that everybody can have a try at working as a courier. All you need to do is to apply and download the Dropbuddies app online. Moreover, the presence of a vehicle is irrelevant as DropBuddies accepts different people from pedestrians to van owners.

DropBuddies is solving issues around the transit of items from point a to point b & also the time gap issue between pick ups and dropoffs by cutting the average delivery time.

According to Oluwatomi Solanke , Co Founder of DropBuddies; “African cities are hard to navigate, paved roads are few and addresses are difficult to resolve and we solve this issues by leveraging on tools such as maps, artificial intelligence & algorithms to understand and manage routing of packages more effectively.”

DropBuddies deploys bike couriers, private drivers, commercial drivers and on-foot personnel through an app to undertake the delivery of packages.

“Also, business owners can use our technology to get customers pretty much anything from flowers to invitations down to bulky items such as furniture. We also have an API that integrates the products workflow directly into each merchant’s checkout process. We employ a revenue sharing model as our DropBuddies earn 80% of the delivery fee.”

To signup with DropBuddies as a courier, you need to be over the age of 18 years, have an existing Facebook profile, a bank account and a bank verification number and be able to travel by bike, car or on foot. However submission of extra details such as a guarantor and Govt issued ID are not mandatory but can help boost one’s profile rating so he/she can have more access to the sort of deliveries one could do

If you need to make a delivery request, visit https://dropbuddies.com and entering your pickup and dropoff points, getting a price estimate and having your delivery sent out to 500+ couriers scattered across Lagos
