CompareInsurance.com.ng, an Insurance comparison site, has won $150,000 in the VentureClash Global Venture Challenge competition held recently in Lagos, Nigeria. It now has a chance to win the investment award of $1.5 million in the finals holding in Connecticut in October this year.
The company founded by Alex Aquereburu and Kayode Awogboro, emerged as the winner out of the 12 startups that pitched at the finals on the 23rd of May in Lagos. Other startups that competed in the finals include Kangpe Inc, Advancio Interactive, Amplify, Beeptool Comm. & Integrated Services Limited, Virtual Farm, Social Lender amongst others.
VentureClash is a $5m global venture challenge organized by Connecticut Innovations, a US-Based strategic venture capital firm for companies that are actively advancing disruptive solutions in digital health, financial technology (fintech), the Internet of Things (IoT) and insurance technology (insurtech).
The $5 million contest kicked off in March with the first round of applications and will conclude with a finalist live pitch event on the Yale University campus in New Haven, Connecticut in October.
The first-place winner will receive an investment award of $1.5 million, and the remaining $3.5 million will be awarded to other finalists based on judges’ input. Winners will also receive mentoring and other assistance.
