Instagram has provided various ways creators can increase sales using its platform, and one of such is through Bio. Reels is also one of them, and this is Instagram’s new way to both create, and discover short and entertaining videos.
Want to use Instagram Reel as a new strategy for growth on Social Media but don’t know exactly how it works nor what to post to maximise engagement? You’re in luck because Instagram has shared key things to focus on if you want your Reels to show up among the top videos the Social site thinks are aligning with these elements.
Instagram starts by highlighting four key factors that determine which Reels a follower is likely to be interested in. Simply put, the more of a particular Reels a person watches and engages with – all through to the end of the video – the more s/he is likely to be presented with similar Reels videos provided this person has a history of interacting with such the creator or owner of the video.
Instagram went ahead to share the four most important signals that can boost Reels reach. And so the algorithm elements to pay attention to are;
1). Activity: Likes, comments and how viewers engaged with the Reels.
2). History: Past engagement history like how long s/he has been interacting with the Creator’s content.
3). Reels Information: This includes specific details of the Reel such as the audio used, video itself and how it relates to pixels.
4). Creator’s Information: Information about the owner of the content and how the viewers interacted with them.
What the algorithm is therefore doing is, take these elements and match the Reels you engage with by suggesting to you similar videos to watch you’ve watched in the past, based on an Artificial Intelligence system that determines what comes up in each Reel.
Instagram didn’t go into detail about how this works. However, this is closely related to visual preferences.
In the fourth clip, Instagram discusses what can limit Reels from going viral, which are;
1). Low resolution or watermarked video content.
2). Politics or governmental issues. Instagram made it clear to people attempting politics, Reels isn’t for you.
Bottom Line
Instagram may have all these specifications for growth using Reels, however, what will resonate with people on Reels is quality content that is fun and entertaining. This is true for all other social media platforms. The goal is always to encourage your audience to respond to your content by trying several tricks and techniques.
