In the previous year, Instagram launched a status update tool called Notes, which allows users to share text and emoji updates with their friends. These Notes appear at the top of the recipient’s inbox for 24 hours and are intended to facilitate casual, private conversations.
As Instagram continues to evolve, with a growing presence of influencers and advertisements, the platform is making a conscious effort to cater to everyday users who long for the simplicity and personal connections that characterized Instagram’s early days.
