It has been announced that an official Instagram app is coming for Windows Phones. Nokia announced Instagram’s arrival alongside its new additions, the Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet and the Lumia 1520 Windows Phone 8 smartphone, at Nokia World: Abu Dhabi. For a while now, Windows Phone users had to settle for unofficial freemium app Instance and Instagraph amongst others.
For Windows Phone, getting Instagram support is a big deal. It signals to application developers that the platform is important enough for one of the world’s most popular apps to grant official support. And that’s not all – Vine and Flipboards are coming to Windows Phone too. Maybe the time has come when the Windows Store will stop being a ghost town after all.
