Facebook today updated its Windows 10 app for Instagram to support both the PCs and tablets. The Instagram initially launched on Windows 10 Mobile back in April, along with Facebook and Facebook Messenger, for the Windows Universal Platform (UWP), but the Instagram app was only restricted to Microsoft’s mobile phones.
UWP allows developers to build a single app that changes based on the user’s device and screen size. One app can work on your Windows 10 computer, Windows 10 tablet, Windows 10 Mobile smartphone.
Now the app works on Windows 10 PCs and tablets, which includes features like the ability to post and edit photos, get notifications, chat via Instagram Direct, and of course use Stories, Search, Explore, Profile, and Feed but keep in mind, the app comes with its own issues.
The app requires a touchscreen and a rear-facing camera to be able to access all of its features like uploading photos. So your PC with an old monitor and web cam won’t be able to do all this, which is unfortunate but look at the bright side. If all you want to do is browse Instagram on your Windows 10 computer or tablet, there’s now an app for that.
You can download the new version now from the Windows Store.
