Instagram now has Face Filters and the efffects are just the same as those on Snapchat. The Facebook owned app continues to play copycat to Snapchat by to trying and harness its fun spirit. The cartoonish effect overlay right on the face.
Snapchat has the famous dog effect, while Instagram does the bunny effect. There’s also a golden crown effect, a nerd glasses effect and a cool kiss face effect. The effects can be found on the face icon in the bottom right corner of the app.
In addition to face filters, Instagram rolled out “Rewind” which give users the ability to play videos in revers, just like you can do on Snapchat, a hashtag sticker and an eraser brush in the camera!
When asked during Snap Inc.’s first earnings call about copycat competitors, Chief Executive Evan Spiegel said: “At the end of the day, just because Yahoo has a search box doesn’t mean they’re Google.”
Snapchat should be worried about Instagram getting into its space because Instagram has a much larger user base than that of Snapchat. 700 million people log on to Instagram every month, and well, Snapchat reported on a daily usage of 166 million users. Instagram Stories alone has more than 200 million.
When a lot people you know already use Instagram and does the same stuff, there’s less incentive to try out Snapchat, so that’s why Snapchat has to keep adding new things to stand out. Recemtly it added a feature to let users loop videos forever.
