Instagram continues to add more Reels feature to improve user’s experience in the app.
Yesterday the company announced a new way for businesses to boost their reels video within the Instagram app and turn them into ads.
Instagram is giving brands the opportunity to reach new audiences and drive more engagement.
You can now easily turn your Reels into ads by boosting them. Boosted Reels will appear in feed, Stories, the Reels tab and the explore page and, as Instagram notes, will “help new customers find your brand.”
It’s important to note that only reels that are less than 60 seconds and have a “9:16” aspect ratio can be turned into ads. The “9:16 aspect ratio” which means you’re reels video muts be recorded vertically and have a full-screen format.
Instagram also noted that reels that use third party IP—such as copyrighted music, GIFs, interactive stickers or camera filters in a reel—can’t be promoted, as well as reels shared to Facebook.
To locate the “Boost” option to amplify your reels video;
1. First of all locate your reels on the grid on your profile
2. Tap “Boost Post”.
Instagram also advised that after running your ad, remember to check your Insights to learn which ads brought in the most engagement.
This can be a great way to get more people into your video content, and as Instagram mentioned, Reels is the fastest growing content format on the app; so the new feature is worth checking out.
But really, the ultimate success of a Reels video will depend on how well you understand the type of content which your target audience wants to see.
This can be a useful tool to help creators boost video content that are already has lot of views.
A caveat, though, is to be careful and not to promote a lousy video that doesn’t monetise organically.
A bad video will not promote your business even if more people see it.
