The Innovate2PREVENT Innovation Contest is calling for submissions from African startups that are eager to bring forth groundbreaking, inclusive, and data-centric circular business models. This contest is orchestrated by the Yunus Environment Hub, acting on behalf of the PREVENT Waste Alliance, and aims to galvanize inventive thinkers from all corners of the world to contribute to the development of a circular economy, particularly within nations prioritized by the German Development Cooperation, while also considering the principles of a just transition.

The program is on the lookout for three distinct types of circular solutions. First, it seeks innovations that aim to prolong the lifespan of products, close resource cycles, or enhance resource efficiency through the reuse, refurbishment, or repair of electrical and electronic equipment. Second, it encourages solutions within the plastics value chain that are directed towards reducing the reliance on single-use plastics. Lastly, the contest is interested in solutions that promote a circular economy by incorporating digital technologies and interoperable data models that span various stages of product life cycles and value chains.

This initiative provides a platform for innovators, environmental advocates, and forward-thinking individuals to present and propel their inventive solutions that contribute to a sustainable and circular economy.

Applications are open here until July 5.
