While I am still enjoying my MDR-1000X, Sony decided to come up with an even better noise cancelling set of headphones called the WH-1000XM2.
Visually, there is really no difference between the two sets of headphones. But Sony says the WH-1000XM2 adds compatibility with Sony | Headphones Connect app (Google Play store or Apple store) for Noise Cancelling performance upgraded with the world’s first Atmospheric Pressure Optimizing, Ambient Sound Control, an Equalizer, Surround and Sound Position control. (Headphones Connect simplifies the process of pairing the headset with your phone and lets users customize their listening experience.)
Wow, the battery life has also now been enhanced, up to 30 hours of battery life or up to 40 hours of battery life with noise cancelling via wired audio connection. Remember the MDR-1000X has a maximum of 20 hours (NC ON) and maximum of 22 hours (NC OFF).

The new has a new quick charging feature which is absent in the previous model. it is claimed that the Quick Charge function can add up to 70 mins of battery life in just 10 minutes.
The WH-1000XM2 is available in September 2017 at Sony authorized dealers nationwide for $349.99.
I hope the Sony | Headphones Connect app will work with my MDR-1000X because I am not ready to buy this advanced set. However if Sony decides to send me a set, I would not refuse.
