    Ian Ferrao named new MD for Vodacom Tanzania

    A new Managing Director has been appointed for Vodacom Tanzania, he is Ian Ferrao and he is taking over from Rene Meza, who after three years is leaving the position to become the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from 1st September.

    Ferrao who is currently the managing director of Vodacom Lesotho, has over 10 years international experience in Europe and Africa and has held senior leadership positions in various technology businesses. Before joining Vodacom Lesotho, he was the chief commercial officer for Vodacom Business Africa and before that he was the commercial director and a shareholder at AfriConnect Zambia.

    Ferrao described himself as a passionate telecoms leader who enjoys creating positive change.

     “I believe that our industry plays a transformational role in the communities in which we operate — we are not simply just about connecting people. Our products and services change lives, create brand new opportunities and make the world a better place.

    “I am a firm believer that technological innovation moves the world forward and Tanzania cannot be left behind. We are entering an era where being connected is now a necessity.”
