Hulu says that its subscriber base at the end of 2017 now stands at over 17 million paying customers spread across both its on-demand and live TV services. That’s an increase of 5 million (40%) since Hulu last gave a number of total subscribers — 12 million — in May 2016.
Hulu further claims its total audience has reached 54 million unique viewers. But, one thing working against the company is that it still remains largely US-based. This said, the company will reportedly fall under Disney ownership if the colossal deal between Disney and 21st Century Fox is approved.
The video streaming service further revealed that the outlook is strong as its advertising revenues hit over $1 billion in 2017 for the first time ever.
The company plans to keep its growth going this year. CEO Randy Freer said in a statement, “The year ahead is going to be even bigger, as the company invests more in content – live, library and original – as well as technology and data to make Hulu the leading pay-TV choice for consumers.”
