Huawei has just unveiled its own version of a foldable phone, the Huawei Mate X at its Huawei MWC 2019 Global Product launch which took place at the the Mobile World Congress scheduled to open officially tomorrow, 25th February 2019.
This is the second foldable phone unveiled within a week after Samsung launched its own Galaxy Fold a couple of days ago.
Compared to the Galaxy phone priced at $1980, the Huawei Mate X costs a whooping 2290 Euros ($2597). Now what exactly is the contrast between these two phones to warrant the $600 difference in price?
First of all, what are the specs of the Huawei Mate X? The foldable phone has a 6.6″ screen on the front and 6.38″ screen on the back when folded as a phone. However it opens up to an 8″ screen as a tablet.
Unfolded, the 8″ screen is obviously wider than the 7.3″ of the Samsung Fold. When folded, its 6.6″ screen
is obviously wider than the Galaxy Fold’s 4.6″ screen and the iPhone Xs Max. The Mate X has a folded thickness of a mere 11mm compared to the Fold’s 17mm.
The battery inside is 4,500 mAH and it runs on Huawei’s Kirin 980 processor and Balong 5000 chipset, which supports 5G.
By the way, Huawei claims that the is the world’s fastest 5G foldable phone. But hey, how can we approve or disprove this?
The internal storage is 512GB and it has 8GB of RAM. It is also accompanied by an upgraded 55W version of Huawei SuperCharge, expected to top up the Mate X to 85% battery life in 30 minutes.
The Huawei mate X is expected to hit the market in the middle of the year.
