Microsoft does have a procedure for managing Android notifications from within Windows. This method allows you to view notifications from your Android mobile as they show up on your Windows 10 PC, as well as pull up your whole SMS log and any backlog messages. You may also respond to a message and write new messages directly from your PC.
FIRST STEP: ON YOUR COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS 10
First of all check that you have the most recent version of the Your Phone app. How?
1. Search for “Your Phone” in the Microsoft Store.
2. Install the app if it isn’t already there.
If it’s already installed, select it by clicking the three-dot menu button next to the “Launch” instruction. Select “Update” if it displays as an option.
Secondly, setup your pc for the connection by doing the following
1. Launch the Your Phone app.
2. Click the Android box, then the “Get started” button.
3. In the prompt that displays, enter your phone number.
SECOND STEP: ON YOUR ANDROID DEVICE
Wait for an SMS from Microsoft with a link to install the Your Phone Companion app (or simply search for it in the Play Store), and then install it.
1. Tap “Sign in with Microsoft” in the Your Phone Companion app.
2. Enter your Microsoft account information. Use the same account that appears in the Your Phone app on your computer.
3. Allow the program to seek the different permissions it needs.
4. When the software asks you to install the Your Phone app on your PC, select “My PC is ready.”
5. So when the app asks you to authorise the connection, press “Allow.”
FINAL STEP
This last stage is the part that authorises notifications to be sent.
1. Search for “Notification Access” in your phone’s system settings, then choose the Notification Access option.
2. Locate the Your Phone Companion app in the list and turn on the toggle next to it.
3. On the confirmation window that displays, tap “Allow.”
4. Return to your computer’s Your Phone app and select the Notifications tab on the left side of the screen. If you don’t see a Notifications tab, close and reopen the app.
5. Then, click “Get started,” followed by “Open settings for me.” You have already manually altered your settings (which is the more direct approach — and the only option as of this year’s Android Q version), thus you should be sent directly to the app’s Notifications page.
Done!
So any notifications you receive on your phone will now appear on your PC and then be moved to your Windows 10 Notification Center (in the lower-right corner of the screen). Any SMS will have the option of reply, which is largely restricted to your default Android SMS app but will be expanded to accommodate all apps with reply functionality in their notifications in the near future.
