How To Use Whiteboards In Your Zoom Meetings

Zoom has become one of the most popular video conferencing applications for professionals. This service provides reliability, video quality and many useful features for effective virtual meetings. Whiteboard is one such feature. Today I’m going to show you how to use the board for your Zoom presentations.

You can create a digital whiteboard for useful note-taking, drawings, and other types of annotations. As the host, you can visually express what you want to communicate to your participants on Zoom. At the same time, the Zoom Whiteboard can act as a collaboration tool that anyone can follow. You can save it as a PNG file for future reference by your colleagues.

How to start Whiteboard in Zoom

    • Open a Zoom meeting and sign in. Click “New Meeting”.
    • Invite participants to the meeting. When you’re ready to use the Zoom Whiteboard, select the “Share Screen” option.
    • Select the Whiteboard and click “Share”. A new white screen will appear, and you’re ready to roll.

How to use the Zoom Whiteboard

With your Whiteboard positioned, it’s time to get creative. Now you and your colleagues or teammates can annotate, leave comments and exchange information as you wish, using the board.

    Select, Text and Draw Tools

A number of Whiteboard tools will appear on a blank screen. Here you can choose what you want to do. On the left is the “Select” tool to move objects about the Whiteboard. Next to it are the “Text” and “Draw” annotation options.

    Stamp Tool

You can use the “Stamp” tool to place icons anywhere on the board. You can choose from a variety of pre-selected stamps, including arrows, checkmarks, X, stars, hearts, and question marks. They can help you express your feelings or thoughts on a specific topic around the clock.

    Spotlight

You can also use the “Spotlight” feature to bring the attention of participants to a specific area. This will allow you to place an arrow with your name next to any part of the Zoom board. Alternatively, you can use this Spotlight ‘wand’ to point at anything and highlight it for a short period of time during the meeting.

Erase, Format, Undo, Redo and Clear Tools

There are other features that give you the ability to Erase, change text / image colour (Format), Undo and Redo. If all goes wrong, you can hit the Clear button to remove whatever you did, or delete the entire Whiteboard.

Finally, How to save your Whiteboard…

Just click the “Save” button to the right of the annotation tools. The PNG file is saved in a predefined folder that can be viewed by clicking the “Show in Folder” option that appears immediately after you save your Whiteboard.

There are more ways you can supercharge your work meetings, and creating a Zoom Whiteboard is just a tip of the iceberg.
